Condo Law

We live in a high rise condominium, so I have developed an interest in that dry area of law, Condominium Law. Since we live in the Province of Ontario, we are subject to the Ontario Condominium Act.

The Condominium Act of Ontario, 1998 has been passed, proclaimed on December 17th, 1998, but only came into effect in May 2001. The accompanying Regulations are Regulation 48 and Regulation 49.

However, it is always interesting to see what another jurisdiction does. Here is the equivalent for British Columbia, where condominiums are called "strata".

The Stata Property Act of British Columbia came into effect July 1, 2000. The accompanying Regulations are found at this location.

Internet Law

As an Internet domain name holder, the gyrations of regulating domain names in the Canadian Internet space, the .ca space, are of interest. I keep track of what happens at CIRA, the Canadian Internet Registration Authority. You too can have a look at the CIRA web site.

Also of interest on this subject are Professor Michael Geist's personal website and the website of the Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic.
